The memorable LNER apple green liveried Class A1 Flying Scotsman helps recreate those wonderful days of the 1930s, when the two great rival train companies, London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and the London, Midland & Scottish Railway battled for the lucrative passenger traffic between London and Scotland.
Included with this set is the excellent Hornby TrakMat which easily accommodates the large oval track and two sidings. The larger of these two sidings sits inside the oval and comfortably takes the full train when operations are over for the day.
This set can be easily expanded using additional Hornby Track and Accessory packs, enabling you to easily construct a complete layout on the 1800 x 1200mm (6ft x 4ft) Track Mat.

I purchased this set for my Grandson(honestly)for christmas, on opening the box set and examining the kit i had truly forgoten the expert craftmanship and quality of Hornby. The minute details and the engineering of the locomotive are excellent, the carriges are superb and the track quality very good. This set is good value for money, i did a lot of shopping around, Amazon was easily the best price. I know my grandson will enjoy it for many years to come (as i will). Well done Hornby I truly recommend this product and you have restored my faith in this type of toy, you simply can't beat quality. . Choo Choo

I bought this for my 8 year old son, as i had some as a kid and loved them, as soon as it arrived we built it and he played for hours with it, fantastic, but then the engine died and we had one dissappoineted little boy, but amazon came to the rescue and sent out a new one and collected the faulty one, within 3 days we were back up and running, and it's been perfect ever since.

Had one of these sets when I was a lot younger and always wanted to buy my son one, I had been looking for ages but never found any at a reasonable price, then Amazon sent me an e-mail knowing that I'd been viewing this train set. The price and service was amazing, I always look on Amazon first before I buy anything. Excellent customer service and delivery.

Bought this as a present and was pleased with it.
It can be a little fiddle setting up but the build is very good on this and it looks great.

A great model. Not suitable for kids under about 8 years though as it is very tricky and needs absolute precision to assemble and correct de-railed trains. Some youngsters will get frustrated by not having the dexterity to accomplish this.
