There are many places to buy discounted model trains, both on and offline. One of the most reliable ways to buy second hand or used model trains is through your local Model Railway club. Model Railway Clubs consist of people from your local area who all share a common interest, Railway Modelling and you can always find someone wishing to sell some of their Locomotives, rolling stock or accessories, to raise funds to purchase an new model for their layout.
Attending model railway club meetings and club nights is always worth it, as you never know what bargains you may find.
Model Railway Bargains Online
The most established, and most reliable way of purchasing used, or second hand model railway items is via Ebay, the worlds largest auction site. Browsing through your Local Ebay site, you will find thousands of bargains in all scales, and from all nationalities, British, European, American, Japanese and more.
There are some fantastic bargains to be had on Ebay, saving you as much as 70% over purchasing the same model trains or scenic accessories in your local hobby store.
A word of caution though, always look at the sellers feedback rating. Feedback scores on Ebay are their for a reason, to protect you. Always look for sellers with a feedback score of as close to 100% as possible. That means that when you purchase something from that seller, you are more than likely going to have a smooth and pleasant trade!
Always pay via PayPal and if possible, use a credit card to pay for your Model Railway items that you are purchasing online. Not to build up debt, but to make sure you get the extra insurance that comes free with using a credit card. It’s always handy in case things do go wrong. At least if you paid with a credit card, you can get your money back!
